If Rory were UP on the leaderboard, do you think he would have withdrawn, wisdom tooth ache and all? HELL NO! I had wisdom toothaches when I was younger and it was not nearly bad enough to distract me from working. Especially if I was getting paid 200 hundred MILLION! Or whatever the REAL amount is. Sore wisdom tooth?!? Judas Priest! Tiger Woods won the US Open on a broken leg! Of course, he has become Tiger's new BFF and with the Nike contract. I'm wondering if that isn't all a curse. Remember David Duval? It's very simple. He is part of Team Nike now. He is now as shallow as the rest of them. You know who they are.

The way the World Golf Rankings are fixed, he HAS TO withdraw to maintain his standing. A WD does not affect his ranking. A poor placing through the weekend DOES affect his ranking.

Man up Rory! I LIKE you but suck it up and play through it. If you're the player that the world makes you out to be you'll finish your rounds and accept your world rankings for what they are.

I like to think the true Rory McIlroy is the one who shot 80 on Sunday at Augusta in 2011 when 69 would have won him a green jacket, and he stood up and answered every question like a golfer, and like a man. That’s the way you do it, kid!

Couldn't really agree with that more. I forgot about the '11 Masters though. McIlroy got an A++ for the way he handled that final round, and gets an F for how he handled yesterday's round.

I used to think pretty high of the kid. Not so much anymore.

If he actually had some wisdom tooth pain (which I doubt), that can be pretty bad. BUT......

I like to think about Ben Hogan. After his horrific car crash when a Greyhound hit him head-on, he was told he'd never walk again...then he went on to win a whole bunch of major championships. But he was in a lot of pain for the rest of his life. It's been documented that during championships, he would often have to find a restroom or bush at some point during the round to vomit from all the pain. And then he'd get right back out and play again.

Jack Nicklaus won the '66 Masters with bursitis in his hip which caused him to be unable to fully rotate through the shot.

And we all remember Tiger winning in 2008. And come on, Freddy Couples plays with severe back pain every day.

So pain isn't really an excuse. Rory was just embarrassed, I think. And that's a lame move to just leave. You GOTTA FINISH.

I remember in 2011, the first time I tried to pre-qualify for the Byron Nelson, I started with a TRIPLE on the first hole followed by another bogey. 4 over after 2 holes. I kept pushing, and if I remember right I played the rest of the round in even par or 1 over and almost made it to the Monday qualifier.

As a professional one is expected to play unless being literally taken off the field of play. I would normally give the kid a pass but in this case I think not. Any criticism he is receiving or about to receive is well placed. Hopefully if the teeth are that bad, get them extracted ASAP and get back on the course. Do not run to girlfriend for sympathy or comfort.

Quit You're Whining!
You are a professional. Show up for the fans that drove all that way, and God knows paid how much, to see one of their hero's play golf!

I think Rory went home only because of the way he was playing. What a baby, Sometime to get better you need you a$$ kicked and show everyone you can take it and your not going any where. Rory was getting his A$$ kicked and he ran home crying.

Forget Tiger and Jack and Ben. Happy Gilmour got hit by a freaking CAR and still finished - and WON! Grow a pair Rory!

I do actually believe the WD had more to do with the OWGR than anything else and given the difference this week in his level of class compared to that of his Masters melt-down, I see the Nike influence creeping in.

In my humble opinion, Nike sucks, I'll never by their stuff and they can go back to making running shoes for all I care.

I think Rory is more interested in getting some poontang right now than playing golf. Its not a wisdom tooth problem, its not a change in equipment problem, its a women problem. The worst problem a guy can have. It will effect your concentration to the point of only thinking about your next roll in the hay. And with the tennis babe he has, who can blame him.

They have turfed Q School and increased the amount of qualifiers from the Web.com Tour (I think it went from 25 to 50).

Good thing Tiger didn't to this. If he had, there would be 10 times as many posts!
