Well Rory is certainly feeling the weight of being the #1 ranked player in the world. In just a span of a couple of months...
- Solidifies #1 ranking
- Gets $100+ million dollar endorsement deal from Nike
- Signs Bose Music contract for more millions
- Misses cut in the Middle East
- 1st round bounce at the Match Play
- +1 first round at the Honda
- WD's citing that he is not in a good place mentally then later press release says its a wisdom tooth.
- Players turning on him saying that if its not a golf related injury...back, knee, hip, arm, foot etc... that he should have finished the round.

Welcome to #1 Rory you are experiencing about 1/1000th of the scrutiny Tiger faced back in the late 90's.

Be careful what you wish for...

Having had an abscessed wisdom tooth before, I can understand completely. That kind of pain is unrelenting and absolutely crowds out anything else you may want to think about. It's pure misery.

Yes when your teeth hurt it's painful, Not as painful as walking out. Total BS, Was not going to hurt any more or less if he played all 18, Think Rory lost more then a few holes of golf today.

I also went through the abscessed tooth pain. The dentist told me it is one of the most painful things someone can go through, something to do with the kind of nerves that are infected or the location of the nerves being so close to the brain. If Rory had this, I don't know how he could even start, even tylenol 3's didn't get rid of the pain for me. Any one remember Tom Hanks in Cast Away when he extracted his abscessed tooth. I can remember seriously thinking about going for the plyers at about 2 AM because I couldn't take the pain anymore.

I just don't buy this story. Why didn't he tell the reporters that he had an issue with his teeth? Instead he said that he was "not in a good place mentally."

This whole tooth thing is just a diversion from his walk off. Tiger has walked off the course two times and at least he was truly injured. He was killed over it.

Rory has some issues with his swing which he has admitted...this is not about his tooth.

Thats impossible! If Tiger wins all four, how can Rory win all four. Lets say two each.

I don't think either of them will win a major this year.

This young man is about to have a defining moment in his life. He made a foolish mistake today and will pay dearly for it. I only hope he learns from it, gets back to work, makes a cut, and wins something. I have to remind myself he is 22 years young, he will make mistakes, he will grow from this (I hope). Kinda ironic he later blamed his "wisdom" tooth.

Could be, but I don't think we even need to go there to see that the young man screwed up. As I said in another forum, even Rory didn't claim the sore wisdom tooth prevented him from playing. He said it interferred with his concentration. He should have stuck out the round.

One of the things I like about our game IS the high standards. Rory made a mistake. One he should get sufficient blow back so he doesn't do it again.
